Iran Suspends Commitments Under Agreement Protocol With United States

Iran has officially announced the suspension of its commitments under an agreement protocol with the United States, accusing Washington of failing to uphold its obligations.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that the United States had “violated and suspended all of its commitments” under what he referred to as the Islamabad agreement, prompting Tehran to halt its own commitments.

“The United States has violated and suspended all its commitments under the Islamabad agreement. We have also suspended our commitments, and we are focused on defending the country,” Gharibabadi said.

The announcement comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, with Iranian officials warning that national security priorities have taken precedence as the country faces what they describe as external pressure and threats.

Iran has not provided further details on which specific provisions of the agreement have been suspended or whether diplomatic channels remain open.

The move raises fresh concerns over the future of negotiations between Iran and the United States, as regional tensions continue to escalate.
