Iran Threatens to Shut US Warships Out of the Persian Gulf as Houthis Target Saudi Arabia

Iran has issued a direct warning to Washington, declaring that US military ships will not be allowed into the Persian Gulf as tensions rise over the possibility of renewed American strikes.

Iranian military chief Ali Abdollahi said Tehran would oppose the presence of US warships under any circumstances. The statement comes as Washington weighs further military action and maritime security around the Strait of Hormuz remains under severe pressure.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has faced renewed missile and drone threats linked to the escalating conflict with Yemen’s Houthi movement. Saudi-led forces reported intercepting two missiles heading toward Taif and Yanbu, a major Red Sea oil export hub. Earlier attacks and threats have also focused attention on airports and energy infrastructure across the kingdom.

The parallel developments raise the risk of a wider regional confrontation: Iran is challenging the US military presence in Gulf waters, while Saudi Arabia faces pressure on critical infrastructure and shipping routes.

However, Iran’s warning does not itself establish control over the Gulf, and responsibility for individual attacks must be assessed separately as the situation continues to evolve.
