BREAKING: Iran Urges France to Reinforce Diplomatic Conduct Following Alleged Incident

Iran has called on France to ensure its diplomats strictly adhere to Iranian law and internationally recognized diplomatic protocols following an alleged incident involving French diplomatic personnel.

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi raised the issue during a phone conversation on Tuesday with his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot. During the call, Araghchi reportedly urged the French government to provide its diplomatic staff with appropriate guidance to prevent future incidents.

Araghchi stated that “respecting the laws of the country where one is and respecting the recognized diplomatic rules are mandatory for foreign embassies to continue working.” He further accused certain French diplomats of behaving in a manner that was “strange” and inconsistent with accepted diplomatic norms.

The Iranian foreign minister called on Paris to take the necessary measures to ensure such actions are not repeated and to reinforce compliance with diplomatic standards among its embassy personnel.

The remarks come after reports on Sunday alleging that French diplomats had been involved in an incident that resulted in them being beaten or detained. Iranian officials have not publicly released detailed information about the circumstances surrounding the alleged event, while French authorities have not yet issued a comprehensive public response to the accusations.

The latest exchange underscores growing diplomatic tensions between Tehran and Paris at a time when relations between Iran and several European countries remain strained over a range of political, security, and regional issues. Further statements from both governments are expected as the situation develops.
