Iran Warns Against Using Strait of Hormuz for Aggression as Pezeshkian Addresses UN
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that the Strait of Hormuz cannot be used by neighboring countries to facilitate attacks or impose insecurity on Iran.
Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly on September 23, Pezeshkian said Iran would not surrender in the war with the United States, while maintaining that diplomacy remains the path toward ending the conflict.
Pezeshkian also criticized the continued presence of hostile naval forces in the region, arguing that expanding the war would not bring peace or security.
The Strait of Hormuz has become a major flashpoint in the conflict, with disruptions to shipping through the strategic waterway affecting global energy markets.
His remarks came one day after U.S. President Donald Trump warned at the UN that Washington could “annihilate” Iran if no agreement is reached to end the conflict.
