Iran Warns Allies Over Frozen Assets, Threatens Hormuz Transit Ban

Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran’s Joint Operations Command, has issued a stern warning to countries and companies allied with the United States.

Iran says that any country or company that accepts Iranian frozen assets as part of a reported U.S. plan to redistribute them will be banned from transiting the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran presented the move as a measure to protect its national assets, signaling it is prepared to use its influence over one of the world’s most important maritime chokepoints.

The warning comes after Iran accused the United States of distributing Iranian assets to parties that, according to Tehran, failed in the region’s ongoing conflicts.
