IRAN’S ARAQCHI: JAPANESE PEOPLE SHOULD DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY FROM THE U.S.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on the “peace-loving” Japanese people to demand that their government provide explanations over what he described as “U.S. crimes.”

His remarks followed reports that U.S. F-16 fighter jets based at Misawa Air Base in Japan were relocated to the Middle East in March and April to participate in operations against Iran.

🇮🇷 Araghchi argued that the reported use of the base in operations against Iran demonstrates, in Tehran’s view, that U.S. military bases in Japan are being used to pursue an “aggressive policy,” rather than solely for the defense of Japan.

🇯🇵 Japan has not issued an official response to the reports so far.
