IRGC Claims Attack on U.S. Unmanned Vessel in Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its naval forces attacked a U.S. military unmanned surface vessel (USV) that was attempting to enter a designated protected area of the Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC said its forces were closely monitoring U.S. movements in the strategic waterway and warned that any hostile action would face a decisive response.

The claim comes amid a sharp escalation between Iran and the United States around the Strait of Hormuz following recent attacks on U.S. warships and Iranian oil tankers.

The U.S. military has denied that the Iranian forces struck an American unmanned vessel, calling the Iranian claim false.

The reported incident marks another escalation in the confrontation over control and access to the Strait of Hormuz.
