BREAKING ISRAEL FACES POLITICAL DEADLOCK AS PRESIDENT HERZOG PREPARES TO DECIDE WHO WILL FORM THE NEXT GOVERNMENT

Israel is facing a political deadlock, with President Isaac Herzog expected to make a crucial decision within the next two days on who should be given the opportunity to form the country’s next government.

The main question is: Who will Herzog choose?

No political party or bloc secured enough seats to independently form a government in the recent parliamentary elections.

Opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot and his allies could potentially secure a parliamentary majority by cooperating with Arab parties, which hold 19 seats. Such an alliance could provide enough support to remove Benjamin Netanyahu from power.

However, the proposal faces opposition from within the opposition camp, particularly from Avigdor Lieberman and Naftali Bennett, who are reluctant to rely on Arab parties to form a government.

Arab political leaders, meanwhile, have indicated that they are not seeking government positions, saying their priority is to end Netanyahu’s rule and secure the position of Speaker of the Knesset.

President Herzog now has two days to consult political leaders and decide whom to nominate to form the next government.

If no candidate succeeds in securing sufficient parliamentary support, Israel could be forced into another election, potentially within four months.

Stay tuned for further updates.
