ISRAEL PREPARES TO COUNTER TURKEY’S GROWING NAVAL PRESENCE
Tensions are rising in the Eastern Mediterranean as the Israeli Navy is reportedly on heightened alert over Turkey’s expanding naval activities in strategically important areas around Greece, Cyprus and Syria.
Israel is reportedly seeking to send a clear message to Ankara: any further Turkish military expansion in these areas will be closely monitored and could face a response.
Syria is a particular concern for Israel, especially amid reports of Turkish plans to deploy radar systems or other military equipment that could restrict Israel’s freedom of action in the region.
Meanwhile, growing military ties between Turkey and Egypt have added another dimension to the regional situation. Israel may seek to strengthen coordination with Egypt, Greece and Cyprus in an effort to counter Ankara’s expanding influence.
