Israel Strikes Abu al-Duhur Military Airfield in Syria

 : Israel has reportedly carried out an airstrike on the Abu al-Duhur military airfield in Syria’s Idlib countryside.

The reported strike has triggered sharp questions over the Syrian government’s response and its ability to confront Israeli military operations on Syrian territory.

Critics are asking: Where are the Islamist factions that spent decades promoting slogans of jihad, resistance and martyrdom?

The accusations come amid reports of sectarian violence, assassinations, security breakdowns and attacks against minority communities in Syria.

Opponents of the current authorities argue that armed groups have demonstrated strength against domestic rivals and minorities while showing little willingness to confront Israel directly.

The latest Israeli strike has therefore reignited a broader debate over Syria’s sovereignty, the rise of sectarianism and the future role of Islamist movements in the country.

 Meanwhile, Israel continues to demonstrate its military reach inside Syria, raising questions about whether Damascus is capable  or willing  to respond.

Why has Syria not responded militarily to the reported Israeli strikes?

Is it strategic restraint, fear of escalation, or a broader calculation to preserve power and avoid a direct confrontation with Israel?
