IT MAY-BE DIFFICULT TO ACHIEVE NATIONAL HEALING IF POLITICAL LEADERS CONTINUE TO BE ARRESTED – ZULU
The Apostles Council of Churches in Zambia has urged government to exercise wisdom and extend a hand of reconciliation to the opposition if the country is to achieve national unity and healing following the 2026 General Elections.
Apostles Council of Churches Programmes Manager, Mwaona Zulu, says the continued arrest and Police summoning of opposition figures could deepen divisions and undermine efforts towards national healing.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka today, Apostle Zulu said calls for peace, unity and national healing must be matched by concrete actions from political leaders.
He said failure to translate calls for reconciliation into action would make it difficult for the country to achieve meaningful healing after the elections.
“The arrests immediately after the elections may signal that the ruling party wants to silence the opposition,” said Apostle Zulu.
He said national healing could only be achieved if political leaders prioritise forgiveness and reconciliation over retaliation.
Apostle Zulu also urged the opposition to exercise restraint and cooperate with investigative wings whenever they are summoned or called in for questioning.
He said responsible conduct by both government and opposition is critical in ensuring that their supporters remain peaceful and that the country moves towards unity after elections.

What is causing arrest
You may be right but when there is eminent danger to the Country the culprits should be brought to book to root out the danger.
This man is a christian. He believes in the bible wherein a set of rules exists, that define one’s conduct is upright or not; is set by the 10 commandments, summariesed into two. Love God and Love thy nieghbour as thy love thy self.
Does God set those rules aside?
Then why should the state laws aside for law breakers?
Arrests are being made cause “they” broke the law.
We are all equal before the law and justice should not be selective.
That man that assulted Gray Nkombo should face the law. As these that are being arrested. No sacred cows.
Wearing a religious tag doesnt make you more wise.

Yesterday it was some former PR person at Ministry of Home Affairs cum religious fimo fimo from the same religious organisation…Today is another. What is their problem?
Leave the clergy and join politics if you want to keep running commentaries. Pot shots in the name of the church is a cheap shot….
No one is above the law, we are all equal. There are no offenses that can be overlooked just because the offenders are opposition leaders or just for the sake of attaining national healing. The offense seems to be big, we haven’t even heard much of it yet. But from the way some people are panicking, trying to run away in the middle of the night, others going into hiding, you can easily tell that ifintu tafili bwino. Let’s just wait and see. Moreover the Presidents of NRPUP and RP have taken over their respective parties leaving Mundubile and Makebi Zulu in the cold. And many senior Alliance officials Ba samba mo saying they are not supporting the petition. Meanwhile Mundubile and Makebi remain in hiding casting doubts as to whether the petition issue is going to materialize or not.
