Former Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili has urged the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to ensure fairness in the campaign timetable by not allowing President Hakainde Hichilema to revisit provinces where he has already campaigned.
Speaking to Hot FM News, Kambwili said President Hichilema should not be accorded special treatment in the campaign schedule, stating that he is a presidential candidate like any other.
Mr. Kambwili said it would be unfair for the President to campaign again in provinces where National Reconciliation for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) presidential candidate Brian Mundubile has already held campaigns, adding that the ECZ should not permit such an arrangement.
He said the ECZ had directed that each presidential candidate be allocated five days to campaign in each province.
However, Mr Kambwili has stated that the Commission was not adhering to its own directive by allowing President Hichilema to return to provinces where he had already campaigned.
Who is stopping them to go back to areas where they feel there is still to be done. We are counting days now.

Most of these opposition leaders are jokers and time wasters, they are not serious at all. ECZ gave campaign slots to everyone but some have failed even to hold a single rally. So what can stop a serious person like HH to use the unused days or slots? For example, M’membe or KBF have failed to campaign anywhere in the country. But when campaigns are over, they are the ones who will be making the loudest noise accusing Hakainde that he is denying them chance to hold rallies. When it’s time to campaign, they fail to campaign, when the campaigns are over, that’s when they want to campaign, kutumpa uko.
