It’s not right to insult your friend’s mother over a difference — Mundubile
NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile says it is wrong for leaders to use their privileged platforms to spread falsehoods or demean others.
And Mundubile says remarks reportedly attributed to President Hakainde Hichilema allegedly demeaning former Local Government Minister Garry Nkombo’s mother are concerning and do not reflect Zambia’s values.
Mundubile says President Hakainde Hichilema should appreciate the contributions Garry Nkombo and Samakayi made to his rise to the Presidency.
Addressing scores of supporters in Mwinilunga yesterday, Mundubile said he was concerned by what he described as false claims allegedly made by the Head of State that he and his running mate, Makebi Zulu, would end the Social Cash Transfer programme, abolish free education and bring violence to the country.
“Yesterday I heard an audio from my dear brother, President Hakainde Hichilema. He was addressing a meeting somewhere and was telling the people that Mundubile and Makebi will stop the Social Cash Transfer, Mundubile and Makebi will stop free education, Mundubile and Makebi will bring violence.
“I was very concerned that my dear brother, who is our current President, can go on stage and begin to project falsehoods. Leaders should not tell lies. Leaders should not go on a platform like this and begin to insult others and other leaders,” Mundubile said.
He further condemned what he described as offensive remarks directed at Garry Nkombo.
“Even when you have a small difference with someone, you don’t go to the extent of insulting your friend’s mother. That is unZambian.
“This is why we are bringing back the Ministry of Religious Affairs and National Guidance so that even our leaders can be guided. We have seen that most of our leaders have set a very bad example in the way they are addressing themselves before the public,” Mundubile said.
Mundubile said an NRPUP government would promote love, peace and unity among Zambians.
He also assured citizens that the Social Cash Transfer programme and free education would continue under his administration, adding that learners would also benefit from free books and school uniforms.
