JD Vance just blamed Trump and his Iran war for Republicans losing the Senate for the next six years, and the Republican civil war has begun
One day after the blue wave, Trump’s own vice president pointed the finger at Trump.
JD Vance wrote on social media Wednesday that if people want to argue the war with Iran was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next six years was worth it, they should say so. He told them to argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay, adding that agree or disagree, that’s at least honest.
Then he said it plainly: everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.
The war was Trump’s decision. He launched it in February and never made a case for it to the American people. It sent gas prices soaring, killed Americans, including two from Iowa, and became the defining issue of the midterms.
Voters answered in states Trump won in 2024. Democrats flipped Senate seats in South Carolina, Texas, Kansas, Ohio, Iowa and North Carolina.
Vance isn’t the only one pointing at the war. Trump has said the war and gas prices partly cost Republicans the election, and MAGA influencers spent Election Night blaming it too. But coming from the vice president, who will now preside over a Democratic Senate, it carries a different weight.
It’s the first big crack in the Trump team, and it came from inside the White House.
Republicans have lost the Senate for six years. The vice president says everyone knows why, and the man responsible is Trump.
