KABWATA MP THREATENS TO SUE HOT FM AFTER CALLER ACCUSES HIM OF CORRUPTION
4th July 2025
KABWATA UPND MP Andrew Tayengwa has threatened to sue Hot FM after a caller accused him of corruption and nepotism.
But Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana has defended the station, insisting that Hot FM cannot be blamed for the allegations made by the caller.
During the breakfast show on Thursday, callers were asked to rate the performance of their MPs in various constituencies.
A caller who introduced himself as someone from Kabwata Constituency accused Tayengwa of giving CDF contracts to people he knew, and soliciting a kickback of K50,000.
However, when given an opportunity to respond to those allegations during the same programme, Tayengwa accused the radio station of flouting IBA rules and threatened legal action….
Newsdiggers
Focuw on why you were elected. Want to spend voters time chasing down the opinions of citizens. That is not what you were elected to do bwana….that is veing petty.
Dare that person to back up their allegations. That is why ACC is there.
The Kabwata MP is right. The radio.station must have guided the caller on allegations he made against the MP. One must not enjoy talking negatively against someone with all the confidence but fails to come in the open and air out his views with courage. The radio must not promote cyber crimes, where some chap can just throw mud on some MP and fears to defend his allegations openly. The radio station must avail the chap’s details so that the MP can be exposed if it is true he is corrupt. It is not good to soilsomeone ‘s image and be left free without making some justifications.
