Kafwaya not hospitalised, Patrick Mwansa not dead – Government
INFORMATION and Media permanent secretary Thabo Kawana has dismissed reports that Tonse Alliance members Mutotwe Kafwaya and Patrick Mulenga have been shot, detained or killed.
Kawana said reports circulating that Kafwaya had been admitted to Maina Soko Medical Centre after allegedly being shot twice in the chest were false.
He also dismissed claims that Mwansa, who is married to former President Edgar Lungu’s daughter Tasila Lungu, had been detained or killed.
According to Kawana, the statements being made by some Tonse Alliance leaders are deliberately aimed at alarming the nation and inciting people to take to the streets ahead of the announcement of the election results.
“Mundubile is saying one thing and Makebi Zulu is saying something. The statements they are making are deliberately meant to alarm the nation so that their people can be agitated and take to the streets to create a chaotic situation,” Kawana said.
He said the conflicting claims were also intended to disrupt the announcement of the election results, stressing that no one knows yet who has won the election.
Kawana challenged Kafwaya to come forward and clarify his whereabouts.
“We are not aware of his death. Mutotwe Kafwaya must also come out and show us where he is,” he said.
On Mwamsa, Kawana said Government had established that he was neither detained nor dead, dismissing claims that he had been abducted or killed.
Meanwhile, Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Dickson Matembo warned that individuals making alarming claims would be required to account for their statements.
“Those making alarming statements will be made to explain their claims,” Matembo said.

The statements by Mr. Makebi Zulu and Mr. Kawana are mutually exclusive. One of them is LYING through his teeth. Lying is a sign of a corrupted character.
Time will prove who the lier is.
