….citing heavy presence of un-reformed, toxic elements from former ruling party regrouping

HARRY Kalaba has drawn a red line, refusing to align the Citizens First (CF) with Brian Mundubile’s faction due to the toxic baggage of un-reformed former Patriotic Front (PF) heavyweights.

Mr Kalaba, the CF president in a live television programme on Saturday night, firmly shut the door on any potential political alliance with Mr Mundubile.

While he acknowledged Mr Mundubile’s personal decency,  he expressed deep concern over the controversial figures rallying behind him.

Mr Kalaba stated that the ‘bad people’ who compromised the previous PF government leaders had simply regrouped around Mr Mundubile without changing their old ways.

“For me, associating with this intact inner circle is an absolute deal-breaker for the party’s principles,” he said.

Mr Kalaba said the former PF elements  whom he viewed as unchanged, carried the same political baggage that led to their 2021 defeat..

“Joining this faction will compromise our clean, alternative image of Citizens First we want to project to voters,” he said.

Mr Kalaba’s stance could create a significant rift in opposition unity, signaling that CF wiould not accept a wholesale repackaging of the old PF guard.
