KAMBWILI URGED TO RESIGN FROM CITIZENS FIRST BEFORE BACKING ANOTHER PARTY

LUSAKA, July 8, 2026 – Citizens First presidential campaign manager Stanley M’hango has called on Roan Constituency parliamentary candidate Chishimba Kambwili to resign from the party following his public endorsement of National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) presidential candidate Brian Mundubile ahead of the August 13 General Elections.

M’hango said Kambwili’s decision to support another party’s presidential candidate while remaining a Citizens First member was inconsistent with the party’s values and principles.

Speaking to Kalemba, M’hango described the move as inappropriate, saying a seasoned politician should not endorse a rival presidential candidate while retaining his position in another political party.

He urged Kambwili to voluntarily resign from Citizens First before publicly backing another political party, arguing that such actions undermine the party’s position.

M’hango further stated that the alliance led by Brian Mundubile remained linked to the former Patriotic Front despite claims of rebranding, adding that Citizens First leader Harry Kalaba had distanced himself from the party in 2017.

He also cited the example of former Citizens First member Maxwell Chongu, who resigned from the party before endorsing Mundubile, saying Kambwili should follow the same course.

Kambwili is contesting the Roan Constituency parliamentary seat on the Citizens First ticket in the forthcoming general elections.
