KAPIRI MPOSHI Christian Ministers Fellowship has declared that it is time to support Pastor Nevers Mumba in the August 12 general elections to lead the Christian nation.

And Mumba, the MMD president, says it is time for the righteous to govern Zambia.

Making a declaration that it was time for Mumba and the Church to do the right thing, a cross section of pastors in Kapiri Mposhi gathered at Pentecostal Holiness Church to encourage and embrace their own.

Fellowship chairperson Jason Msoni said, “Let me remind you also Dr [Mumba] that…on this day 23rd June, 13 years ago, you and I were in one meeting in Lusaka at Dunamis where words were spoken concerning the direction of this nation. I hope you remember that. So we are so grateful that Kapiri has hosted you on a day like this,” Msoni said to applause from the pastors in attendance. “Perhaps it’s something to remind us of what God is about to do. I remember on that day something that came out so strongly was that Zambia will one day have a ‘Kingdom cabinet’. Maybe the time for ‘Kingdom Cabinet’ has come. It’s up to us. Hallelujah.”

Bishop Alinaswe Sinkala agreed, stating that the Church had contributed to the mess which the country was in because of its failure to support its own.

“I should tell you that my mind was just somewhere else, completely off and I said ‘this year maybe let me try [UPND leader] Hakainde [Hichilema]’ but the most important thing that I saw and realised yesterday (Wednesday) was that we need more meetings like this to be done in the next few weeks before elections. More pastors in Kapiri, in Zambia and more churches…the Church actually, I didn’t realise that as a Church we are almost 97 per cent. But I can attest to you that surely Christianity has taken root in this country. We are so many and even the politicians do not realise this,” Bishop Sinkala said. “I was convinced that…I did not actually understand very well Proverbs 29 but after the Doctor [Mumba] spoke, it really touched my heart. We have actually empowered so many irrelevant leaders and that’s why the country is in a mess like this. We have contributed, the Church, especially because we did not support our own.”

Proverbs 29:2 states: “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.”

Bishop Sinkala said as he was talking to several pastors and bishops, he told them it was time they “woke up” to support their own.

He said the pastors said Mumba was the most influential Pentecostal leader in the nation and needed their support.

“I can attest to you from deep down my heart that yes that meeting changed my…decision and I even started telling people that we are supposed to be blamed for all that has happened all these years. I have been reading the book ‘Zambia Shall Be Saved’ but when it comes to voting, we go and vote for somebody who is a pagan and yet we continue complaining. But if we try our own [and] he gets there [in office], it will happen. It is time the Church rose up, there are so many pastors in Kapiri, there are so many pastors in Zambia that have influence on the people, so if we can touch the minds of the people and tell them the truth, I am telling you many will know who Dr Mumba is, he shall win the election,” he said.

Bishop Sinkala said people had been giving the vote to “pagans” who were ruling and ruining the country, but called on the Church to arise and support a candidate who would bring about real change.

“I can tell you that among all the candidates, I have been speaking this to the people but I didn’t understand it the way it came out today. I have been telling people that the best candidate we have in Zambia is Dr Mumba but the problem is his party, he doesn’t have money and the likes but I have a revelation that what Dr Mumba talked about, the wind blowing is what I was telling the people at my church. The deaths that are happening and what Dr Mumba said, I confirm it, truly that man hears from God, the wind blowing especially this month of June is spiritual to prepare what is coming ahead of Zambia after August,” Bishop Sinkala said. “God wants the people to wake up and begin to look beyond money, beyond politics. We need a God-fearing leader to take up the nation of Zambia and I can assure you that Dr Mumba is the best of all the candidates that Zambia has…”

And Mumba said the ravaging pandemic was speaking to Zambians as the ‘death angel’ would have to finish its mission with no disturbance.

Addressing the Pastors’ Fellowship, Mumba regretted that those that govern in Africa were people that had no interest and fear of God.

He said the country was at a time when the Church must play its part and role to bring righteousness into leadership.

“You can’t pray for the healing of this country but refuse to pray for the right people to govern the country you are praying for, it’s contradictory. And this belief that the non-believers are considered better qualified than us is a lie from the devil,” Mumba said.

Mumba said that non-believers had historically failed to improve a country in a transparent and accountable manner.

He explained that non-believing leaders had proved to be compromised, thus failing to govern the country in a transparent and accountable manner.

Mumba urged the clergy in Kapiri Mposhi district to vote for righteous men to take up the governance mantle in Zambia.

“I have come to tell you that every Church person should vote for the righteous and God-fearing person…. You need to vote for God-fearing political leaders. The right people should govern this country for a change,” he said.

He emphasised that the August 12 general election was about change of the Zambian governance system.
