Kapoli ni Kapoli; Hichilema is a liar, I’m not afraid to say it — Makebi
NRPUP Presidential running mate Makebi Zulu says he, unlike Chishimba Kambwili, is not afraid to publicly call President Hakainde Hichilema “a liar.”
Addressing supporters, Makebi argued that anyone who makes promises and fails to fulfil them should be described as “a liar.”
He asserts that while in opposition, President Hichilema promised to reduce the prices of fertilizer and mealie meal but has failed to deliver on those commitments.
Makebi urged the electorate not to believe the Head of State’s promises anymore.
“Can you listen to a person that lied to you? He was saying PF used to mistreat you. He used to tell you, ‘I’ll better your livelihoods’. Have your livelihoods been improved?
“He told you, you would be buying fertilizer at K250, right? Do you buy it at K250 here?”
Makebi asked the crowd, which responded with an emphatic “No.”
He then asked, “How much do you buy it at?”
Someone from the crowd shouted, “K1,300!”
Makebi responded: “Is K1,300 equivalent to K250? Isn’t that a lie? Mr. Chishimba Kambwili was afraid of saying HH is a liar. But here I am saying it; Hichilema is a liar. I am saying here that he is a liar. Kambwili has been jailed before so he is afraid of saying it as it is.”
He continued: “But for me, a liar is a liar. Kapoli ni Kapoli. Isn’t it? He used to move around with commodity prepacks, what is difficult now? He said fuel would be K12, and how much is it at now?”
A member of the crowd replied, “K34!”
Makebi concluded: “They lied to us. The one who tells lies, isn’t that a liar? So, HH is a liar.”

The defender of looters Maa Kebby
We are now waiting for K500 per bag of Maize plus Transport to the FRA Depot…
I am sure Brian Mundubile saw this in the 2027 Budget presented to Parliament last year which he Voted For…
I wonder how much a bag of Mealie meal will be…
Maize now is K340, Mealie meal is about K230…
When maize will be K500, how much will be Mealie meal???
Makebi Zulu knows nothing about economics, he is just hallucinating and misleading people. Ask any Economist, he will tell you that Economics is a Science of assumptions meaning that there is no liar in Economics because whatever you say can only be fulfilled if or when the prevailing situation remain the same from the time the pronouncement was made. But as long as there are changes, other fulfillment may not be possible, some promises even became invalid. This is where most people including MZ fail to use their common sense. I will give you an example, one day I called my son and asked him about what he wanted to do after completing school. He promised me that he would study Medicine and become a renown Doctor. After his school we found him a place in Ukraine but barely few months after his arrival there, Russia-Ukraine war broke out. Then my son together with other Zambian students who were in Ukraine that time were evacuated back home through Poland. Due to that disturbance, all the ambitions for my son were shuttered, he never became a Doctor. So if I am a normal or sane parent, can I start calling my son a liar? Definitely not, unless I am not normal or insane. Things are not the same with the time he was promising me.
Similarly, Zambians like Makebi Zulu should know that things were not the same before and the time HH came into power. First and foremost, he found the treasury empty while PF inherited a sound treasury from MMD, then HH found a huge unsustainable debt which MZ and his administration left. Whilst he was still restructuring it, a severe drought in our living memory came resulting in total crop failure and the drying up of Kariba dam. Almost all the mines had shut down until HH came to resuscitate them and opened new ones. The main source of our fuel is the Middle East and we all know what is happening there, first it was Russia-Ukraine, then Israel-Gaza and now it is Israel/US-Iran pushing the fuel prices on the International market very high. There are many other factors which I can’t include here because time and space can’t allow me.
I can now come back to Makebi Zulu’s arguments, the gentleman knows that Mealie Meal is not from lime stone but from maize. And if there is no maize because of the drought, surely there can’t be cheap mealie meal. Even the economic fundamentals do not agree, because in Economics, we use the forces of supply and demand. The more abundant the commodity is on the market, the cheaper it is and the more scarce the commodity is on the market, the more expensive it is. No normal person can expect cheap mealie meal in the face of the severe drought, it can’t be and it’s not HH who brought the drought. The same with fuel, if there is volatility at the source of fuel, Oil producing countries take advantage and the prices go up and there is nothing much we or HH can do. Zambia is not Angola, we don’t produce oil here, we depend on imported fuel. So Makebi Zulu should stop misleading the people, they are the ones who destroyed our economy and HH has worked tirelessly and prudently to repair it, then you are saying he had failed, failed to do what? Are you not seeing what he has done and what he is doing? Where can cheap mealie meal come from if there is no maize? Where can cheap fuel come from if there is war at the source and the passage strait of Hormuz is closed? Mulelanda ifya mano bane, if you don’t know economics, kubonfya iyo yine koloboi yenu mwaya ku night school. Doesn’t Makebi Zulu know that we are now a Fertilizer exporter to the region and beyond? If Fertilizer is k1,300 here, then find out where it is exported to, there is no commodity which costs cheaply on the local market and yet very expensive to import, unless it’s being subsidized. The expensive Fertilizer is cheap for our neighbors, don’t you see the Zambian Fertilzer being smuggled into Malawi, Tanzania and Congo DR? Even FISP ba ma gulisa. No person can smuggle a commodity from an expensive market to a cheaper market, what profit are going to make? So whatever you say, in Zambia we are better off. If Fertilizer is still being smuggled when it’s at k1,300, what more if it dropped to 500 or 250, then it can be big Bonanza for other countries.
