UPDATE: Kasama Mayor Elect Peter Yuda has formally been arrested and charged with one count of criminal trespass.
Mr. Yuda’s legal representative has stated that the formal arrest was effected today at precisely 15:54 hours.
The Mayor elect was picked by police earlier this afternoon at Wamulungwe Lodge and was taken to Kasama Central Police.
Mr Yuda is facing charges contrary to Section 306 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia, for allegedly trespassing at the house of Northern Province Acting Permanent Secretary Ms. Beauty Undi Phiri on 14th August 2026.
Mr. Yuda remains in costudy as investigations continue.
