ZMP URGES PRESIDENT HAKAINDE’S UPND GOVERNMENT TO ADDRESS DRUGS SHORTAGE AS A MATTER OF URGENCY.

Zambia Must Prosper Party is saddened to note that Republican President Hakainde Hichilema’s UPND Government has neglected the health sector and many parts of the country are facing a shortage of medicines and medical supplies.
We are saddened because the impact of this seemingly prolonging shortage of medicines in terms of human life will never be known and the duty bearers are not moved to do the right thing.
We have established a number of district hospitals such as Chipata, Kalindawalo, Petauke and Lundazi in Eastern Province are issuing prescriptions to patients even for the basic essential drugs which one would expect to find at any well managed health facility.
Central Province has not been spared as most of the health centres in Kabwe, Mkushi, Serenje, Chtambo, Itezhi-Tezhi, Mumbwa are experiencing the same shortage of drugs.
In Luapula Province the situation is not any different as a number of health centers cannot recall when last they received a consignment as the case is in Kaputa and Nsama districts.
In Southern Province the drugs and medical supplies shortage is the same at Chikankata, Mazabuka, Monze, Choma, Sinazongwe, Namwala, Kalomo, Livingstone and Kazungula district hospitals.
In Western and North Western Provinces the most hit areas are Nkehema, Kaoma, Sesheke, Kalabo, Mitete, Shang’ombo, Solwezi, Mufumbwe, Mwinilunga, Zambezi, Ikelengi and Kasempa with many residents expressing outrage at the UPND Government’s failure to address the problem more than a year after assuming office.
Urban areas such as Lusaka and the Copperbelt residents have not been spared either from the horror of being sick, but unable to get drugs at thier local clinics.
We are appealling to the UPND Government to address the drugs shortage immediately as a matter of urgency as this touches on people’s lives.
Zambia Must Prosper Party under the servant leadership of President Kelvin Fube Bwalya places a high premium on citizens lives because once life is lost can never be replaced and therefore believes everything must be done by a responsible Government to preserve and nature life.
