KIZZA BESIGYE LOSES ONLY GRANDSON AT AGE SIX
Incarcerated opposition politician Dr Kizza Besigye and his family are mourning the death of his only grandson, Righteous Ariho Besigye, affectionately known as Rai.
The six-year-old died in the early hours of Thursday, September 24, while receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala.
His father, Adam Ampa Besigye, confirmed the heartbreaking news, describing Rai as his firstborn son and a “warrior” who fought until the end. The illness he was being treated for has not been publicly disclosed.
Rai was born in March 2020 during the pandemic. His death comes at a difficult time for the Besigye family as Dr Besigye remains in custody while facing treason charges, which he denies.
