🇺🇸🇮🇱🇵🇸⚡️ Kushner to Meet Netanyahu as Gaza Reconstruction Talks Face Major Obstacles
🇺🇸 WASHINGTON: Global attention is turning to Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law, as he prepares to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the future of Gaza and efforts to end the conflict.
Kushner, alongside U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, reportedly met yesterday with Hamas political leadership as part of diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the Gaza war and advancing reconstruction.
Today, the delegation is expected to meet Netanyahu, who has continued to oppose any arrangement that would allow Hamas to retain significant military capabilities.
🇮🇱 NETANYAHU’S CONDITIONS: The Israeli prime minister has reportedly tied Gaza’s reconstruction to two key demands:
1️⃣ Hamas must be completely disarmed, with no weapons remaining under its control
2️⃣ Hamas must reveal the locations of its underground tunnels and bunkers in Gaza so they can be destroyed.
The demands go beyond some of the provisions outlined in Trump’s proposed framework and have become a major point of disagreement in negotiations.
🌍 Several countries have also expressed opposition to what they view as excessive Israeli demands, warning that reconstruction and a lasting ceasefire will be difficult without a broader political agreement.
🔴 The key question now: Can Kushner, Witkoff and Blair persuade Netanyahu to accept a compromise that would allow the Gaza reconstruction process to move forward?
