“Kylian Mbappé should be the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner. Everyone has their own perspective on the criteria for winning the Ballon d’Or, but if it’s based on individual performances and who has been the best player in the world from last season through the World Cup, there’s absolutely no reason why Kylian Mbappé shouldn’t win it.
Over the years, the criteria haven’t been consistent. Sometimes it includes players’ behaviour, like in 2024, and sometimes it involves other factors. But if I’m giving my honest opinion, the award should go to the player who performed better individually than anyone else. For me, that player is Kylian Mbappé.
He deserves to win it this year. Although he didn’t win a trophy with Madrid or France, we saw what he did in La Liga, the Champions League, and at the World Cup.”
