LAURA MITI CONDEMNS “BA POMPWE” SONG AT INAUGURATION
Human Rights Commissioner Laura Miti has expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to play “Ba Pompwe,” a song by Zambian artist Aqualaskin, during President Hakainde Hichilema’s inauguration ceremony.
According to Miti, the song was not appropriate for such an occasion, raising questions about the choice of music played during the historic ceremony.

No, mama I don’t agree with you this time.The ba pompwe song was just ok at the inauguration.It satisfied victory aspect on a highly contested election which could have gone to the the other contenders. Inauguration is for all but you can’t immediately stop happy feelings from the winners of the elections.That was the rhythm of the heart bit.It was the responsibility of the President to come on board to stop that through a speech which he did.The speech by the President brings about oneness as he comforts those who feel they have lost and tells those who feel have won to embrace the others to realize that the other group of people had their democratic right to vote differently.Inaugurations do help to bring back peace.The provocative song is stoped by the speech of the President as he welcomes those who didn’t vote for him and assures them of equal opportunities for all benefits of economic growth and development without segregation.Then the victory is felt as victory for all.We have to accept what happened.The MMD didn’t lament when songs agains President RB were played at Mr Sata’s inauguration ceremony.
It may sound bad for your ears because you’re still enjoying peace! You heard them and their propaganda gurus who were ready to die and key for the election. Their plan B was warfare not elections. The song was appropriate for citizens to be assured that we had dodged a bullet. Very appreciate!
I agree with her observation. That is supposed to be a campaign song and campaigns are over. We needed songs to unite people at such event.
