LGBTQ COMMUNITY AND POLICE – DO NOT CONTINUE TO DARE ZAMBIANS

On 4th March, we witnessed a march by some LGBTQ people being escorted by the Zambia Police.
On 5th March the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, issued a statement to the effect that the Zambia Police were in fact duped by the group. The statement read in part “it has come to the attention of the Zambia Police Service that during the said March-past, conveners exhibited a different agenda from the one whose permit they sought for. The agenda seemed to have highlighted issues of LGBTQ (Homosexuality).”
As New Heritage Party, we wish to address both the Zambia Police as well as the LGBTQ Community regarding this matter.
To the Zambia Police
The New Heritage Party wish to express our deep concern and dismay at your handling of this case and wish to state from the outset that you are belittling and insulting the intelligence of Zambians. If we were to come and ask for a Police escort to deposit large amounts of money at the bank, but when we get to the bank we instead start to rob the bank, would the Police continue to provide us with security?
Once your officers saw that the agenda was different from that applied for, why did they not pull back and alert others about what was going on? You, more than the citizens of this great nation, are trained in law and peace keeping and know that when a citizenry is as vexed as Zambians currently are, any seeming provocation, even if unrelated to the economy, can bring unwanted consequences.
Stop endangering our lives.
To the LGBTQ Community.
We understand that we all commit all manner of sin. Those that sin, however, do so privately. Why should you flaunt yourselves? Why do you feel that you must push your depravity on our society? What do you hope to achieve? Have you seen adulterers, thieves, murderers marching down the street trying to force people to accept them and their behaviors?
Stop pushing the boundaries. Please do not think for a single minute that we, as a society, will accept and applaud your behaviors. Keep your behaviors to yourselves. We have massive problems in this nation without you adding to what we are already experiencing. This daring of the people of Zambia needs to stop and it needs to stop now.
Your behavior does not portray who we are culturally as well as a Christian Nation.
