LOOK BEYOND ELECTION DIVISIONS AFTER HH’S INAUGURATION, JERE URGES ZAMBIANS
Prominent lawyer and former presidential press aide Dickson Jere has compared the inauguration of President Hakainde Hichilema to a political wedding, saying it symbolises a union between the Head of State and the country.
Jere said, like a man seeking to marry, a presidential candidate undergoes intense scrutiny, with some people openly opposing the union.
“Once the wedding is done and the man and woman are pronounced husband and wife, it is done!” Jere said.
He said even those who initially disapproved of the marriage eventually accept the outcome and move forward.
“And so is the inauguration, the political wedding of the President,” he said.
Jere said the focus should now shift to President Hichilema’s second five-year term and his responsibility to care for the country.
“We hope the husband, HH, will prove those uncles and aunties wrong by looking after the wife and children well,” he said.
