LUANGENI INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE DRAGGED BEFORE ECZ FOR MALPRACTICE
UPND’s Simon Banda drags Independent parliamentary Candidate for Luangeni Roanald Jere to ECZ over election Malpractice.
The United Party for National Development (UPND) in Luangeni Constituency has lodged a formal complaint with the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), alleging electoral malpractice by Luangeni aspiring candidate Rolnald Jere.
In a letter dated 23 July 2026 and addressed to the District Electoral Officer in Chipata, UPND’s Luangeni Constituency official, Simon Banda alleged that Mr Jere distributed plain chitenge materials to women during campaign meetings held at Katambo School and Manda School on 22 July 2026.
According to the complaint, the meetings took place at around 10:00 hours at Katambo School and 14:00 hours at Manda School ahead of the 13 August General Election.
Mr Banda claimed that the distribution of the chitenge materials contravened the Electoral Code of Conduct and has asked the ECZ to investigate the matter and place the complaint on record.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia comfiŕmed receiving the complaint and the matter was scheduled for hearing Tuesday 28th of July 2026.
