LUSAKA-LIVINGSTONE DUAL CARRIAGEWAY TO BE CONSTRUCTED IF UPND IS RE-ELECTED – HH

President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged that his government will construct a dual carriageway from Lusaka to Livingstone if the UPND is re-elected in the August 13 General Election.

Speaking during a community engagement in Mazabuka on Thursday, President Hichilema said the project would ease traffic congestion, improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth between the two cities.

He said the government’s ability to deliver major infrastructure projects was already evident through the ongoing construction of the Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway.

The President also promised to upgrade Mazabuka District Hospital into a fully-fledged general hospital with modern medical facilities.

He further announced plans to establish a skills training centre in the district to equip young people with practical skills that meet labour market demands.

President Hichilema challenged opposition political parties claiming to enjoy greater public support to demonstrate their popularity through the ballot box.

He also criticised former UPND member Gary Nkombo, accusing him of betraying the party and misleading the public.

The President alleged that Mr Nkombo had failed to support Constitution Amendment Bill No. 7, which he said was intended to increase the representation of women, youths and persons with disabilities.
