A video circulating on social media shows NRPUP’s Gabriel Kibombwe in a tense exchange with an ECZ official at what appears to be a tallying centre on the evening of Tuesday, 18 August.
Kibombwe and others present say they hold official declaration forms and summary statements for several constituencies, and question why results still can’t be consolidated or announced. “When you sum up the entries… we know who has won,” he explained.
Frustration builds through the recording. “We’ve been here from morning, and we’re here up to now,” one person says, adding they only learn updates by checking Facebook.
Officials cited technical challenges as the reason and eventually asked the group to leave and return the next day, without giving a time. The exchange ends with Kibombwe quoting Philippians: “For me to live is Christ, to die is gain.”
