MAINA SOKO NURSE TESTIFIES IN SHIKAPWASHA MURDER TRIAL

A nurse at Maina Soko Military Medical Centre has testified before High Court Judge Conceptor Zulu that the late retired Lieutenant General Ronnie Shikapwasha was restless when he was taken to the medical facility and disclosed that his gun had fired.
Sergeant Mutinta Muleya, who was working in the hospital’s emergency department on January 14, 2024, told the court that Lieutenant General Shikapwasha was brought to the facility at around 17:00 hours and was found holding his abdomen with a white towel.
She said after assessing him, his vital signs were within normal ranges and he identified himself as retired General Shikapwasha.
Sergeant Muleya further testified that while collecting blood samples from Lieutenant General Shikapwasha, she asked what had happened, to which he responded that his gun had fired, adding that she did not ask further questions because he was restless.
Meanwhile, the court also heard from Forensic Analyst Innocent Makasa that DNA analysis conducted on a white towel found at the scene generated a single male DNA profile which matched a reference sample labelled male Shikapwasha.
Mr. Makasa told the court that other samples from a white vest, blouse and carpet contained DNA profiles from multiple individuals and were therefore reported as inconclusive.
In this matter, Lieutenant General Shikapwasha’s widow Jane Lusengo is accused of murdering him contrary to Section 200 of the Penal Code.
