MAN ARRESTED IN MANSA FOR ALLEGEDLY HARASSING PRESIDENT HICHILEMA

A 38-year-old tailor of Musaila Junction in Mansa District, Kennedy Mwansa, has been charged and arrested for alleged harassment using electronic gadgets.

Mwansa was arrested after a video allegedly showing Republican President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Force, Hakainde Hichilema, being insulted using indecent language circulated on TikTok.

According to Zambia Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Timothy Malumo, the matter was reported at Mansa Central Police Station on September 9, 2026, at about 11:54 hours.

Malumo says swift investigations and analysis of the video led Police to identify and apprehend Mwansa, who is a tailor operating at Musaila Junction.

He says a mobile phone allegedly used to record and upload the video has since been recovered and secured as an exhibit.

Malumo says the suspect is currently detained in Police custody pending court appearance.

He has cautioned members of the public against misusing social media platforms to harass, insult, demean or infringe upon the rights and dignity of others.

Malumo has further urged members of the public to exercise responsibility and restraint when creating, sharing or disseminating content on digital platforms.
