MARCH AND MARCH LEADERS SEEK POLICE PROTECTION AFTER THE KILLING OF ORGANISATION LEADER ANDILE SOMGXADA, SAYING THEY NOW FEAR FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY

The anti-illegal immigration group March and March has called on the South African Police Service (SAPS) to provide protection for its leaders following the killing of the organisation’s leader, Andile Somgxada.

According to the organisation, its remaining leadership fears for their safety after Somgxada was killed. They are now appealing to police for protection while investigations into the murder continue.

March and March has become well known for organising demonstrations against illegal immigration and calling for stricter enforcement of South Africa’s immigration laws. The group says the death of its leader has left members concerned about their security.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Somgxada’s death, and no official motive has been confirmed.

The organisation says it hopes law enforcement authorities will provide security for its leaders while ensuring that those responsible for the killing are identified and brought to justice.
