Maxwell Signals Deal to Trump: ‘I Can Clear You’ If Clemency Comes First
Convicted Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell has sent a stunning message to Donald Trump: spare her from prison, and she says she can wipe his name clean in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
The explosive offer was revealed Monday by Maxwell’s attorney during her virtual deposition before the House Oversight Committee, instantly reigniting one of Washington’s most toxic political firestorms. Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors.
Her lawyer said Maxwell “alone can explain why” certain events unfolded, adding that the public “is entitled to that explanation”language widely seen as a not-so-subtle appeal for clemency. Trump has not ruled out a pardon or commutation.
Lawmakers reacted with fury after Maxwell pleaded the Fifth. Oversight Chair James Comer called it “very disappointing,” while Democrats accused her of trying to trade silence for freedom. Both Trump and Bill Clinton, whose names appear in DOJ-released files, deny any wrongdoing. The Epstein saga, it seems, is far from over.
