Former PF Copperbelt Provincial Vice Chairperson Mike Manda has castigated Dr Chishimba Kambwili over his alleged retrogressive sentiments towards party members who once served under MMD.
In a leaked audio which has been taking rounds on different media platforms, Hon Kambwili is purportedly heard demonizing those said members.
But Mr Manda said it is shocking and very disappointing that senior members of the party can come out like that.
“And truly, I can safely say that the rebranding that we are praying for is finally coming because people in the structures and people in Zambia will judge the caliber of leaders that aspire to take the responsibility of the President in our party,” he said.
“I want to mention it to them the two leaders that it is no more an idea that they should label their colleagues to be MMD. Everyone who has joined PF is PF and that must be known to them. We have not heard any word against those that had left PF. Some of you went to UPND, some of you joined NDC, we are aware of those things.”
He said Dr Kambwili should have exhibited wisdom in the way he conducted himself.
Mr Manda reminded the senior member of the party of how he was welcomed back in the party after he had left for UPND.
“Truth be told, we welcomed you when you came back to PF and you joined the party and we supported the idea because in politics, numbers matter a lot. It is totally dissappopinting that Mr Kambwili has totally forgotten what led to the PF losing power. It is this kind of leadership that he is exhibiting today,” he said.
“And I feel for him because today he should have used a lot of wisdom in trying to convince people that he is a changed person, he is a changed leader, he should have exhibited a lot of wisdom. But we are lucky as PF because God has exposed this kind of leadership, God has exposed the true picture of some of these leaders we have in our party.”
He said the party needs a sober leader.
“I now agree that indeed, some of these leaders must take leave and allow people to choose leaders who will propel the good agenda to govern the party well. I also want to share my opinion to them of the kind of leadership that we need in PF. Number 1; we need a sober leader, one who has so much respect for everyone regardless of the positon. 2; we need to a leader who is going to attract noble things from the general membership, noble things from the Zambian people because aspiring to become a leader in PF is as good as aspiring to be a leader in this country,” he said.
“Because PF is a big political party, a former ruling party and the largest opposition party as we speak today. Three; we must have a leader who should match or even go beyond what is being exhibited in the ruling government today.”
