MILES SAMPA TO CONTINUE ATTENDING PARLIAMENT – SPEAKER

Speaker of National Assembly, Nelly Mutti has ruled that Matero Member of Parliament, Miles Sampa’s stay in the house is subject to court interpretation.

The Speaker says the house has no jurisdiction over the matter and that until the judicial process takes course, Mr. Sampa enjoys the full privileges of Parliament.

She says the Legislature should therefore not be dragged to interpret the law, hence the autonomy of the Judiciary should be left to preside over Mr. Sampa’s matter.

The ruling has however unsettled some lawmakers who are against the outcome of the ruling.

  1. Time will come when they will all have to answer for abrogating the constitution of Zambia. Those who wrote and put together the pieces of legislation to come the constitution of Zambia are not stupid. Those who abrogate it will be severely punished to deter any future wrong doers. What has happened now must never happen again in the life history of this country. The best is Zambians know now who to vote for and who not to vote for. Even the speaker, a lawyer should sink so low, then the law as a profession yesebana!

    • @ Mununka there’s no one abrogating the Constitution here. The Speaker is on firm ground in her ruling citing the Attorney Gf eneral Vs Chishimba Kambwili case w HH Erwin the court expressly stated the judicial interpretation is the preserve of the judiciary and not parliament. You clearly don’t like this but this is the law of separation of power.. The mandate of the speaker is to make laws and provide forum for people participation in governance. The speaker is not a court of law. The PF factions are better use the right court or if cess in their differences.

  2. It is sad to observe that emotions are being used to interpret a legal position. This is really sad as tempers or dislike of an individual is not the appropriate way to fight a sophisticated legal matter which has complicated legal issues.

It is Unfortunate to note that disbelief and there is refusal to acknowledge that power in this embattled political party has shifted to another group. This attitude being exhibited by those tasked with the duty to fight this legal position is surprising and self defeating.

This presents a serious question of mental capacity to strategically deal with a matter that has its originality and authority entrenched in legal recourse.

Until this denial of current events is overcome and a quick acceptance of that there has been transfer of power whether legally or not, the mental state to strategically plan will be adversely affected.

What we are Witnessing is that people are running here and there in a bid to express power and authority only to be denied access or audience where they felt they were still in control. The sudden realization of lack of power or authority can be immobilizing as the fantasy disappears. A reality check can cause emotional commotion. There is need to take in what is happening sitting down meditatively.

This apparent lack of legitimacy can only be corrected in the courts of law and not through any other means. For now it appears there is more to come as we have heard from the current leadership structure.

  3. Just wait until this is done to Hichilema and Upnd , don’t done and cry TRIBALISM, kabili a precedent has been set, where hatred , nepotism, TRIBALISM, jelousy, vengeance are way of ruling the country. I really feel pity for these Tongas and Lozis , they think other tribes don’t think, dont reason. I am telling you, you will cry and you will regret your useless actions. It won’t be long before you are cry babies. God will punish you and your tribal party will diminish. As for Sampa, am sure if he has ever ready the Bible! That in the Bible will happen to him.

    • I feel how it pains you my friend. But wait a minute, did talk about the Bible, that what wrong you do to another person will come back at you? I agree with you on this one because that is exactly what has happened to ECL and his group. The pain they caused to Miles is exactly, or even more than what transpired in 2015 convention. This are two brothers fighting, don’t include HH or Tonga in their dispute.

  4. This is the most corrupt government in the world, because all smells of a lot of corruption. A party on whose ticket ka Sampa went to parliament has expelled him, and the partisan speaker says, he continues attending parliament. When these happening to Upndead in future how are they going to fight it out especially that Upndead it’s just one term.
