‎MONZE HEADMEN REJECT JACK MWIMBU’S BID FOR SIXTH TERM, BRAND DONATIONS ‘BRIBES’.

By John Shikabe

‎Over 20 headmen in Ufwenuka Chiefdom in Monze District have described the donation of second-hand clothes and other charity works by Monze Central Member of Parliament Jack Mwimbu as a way of bribing the community to give him another chance to clock 30 years in Parliament.

‎Speaking on behalf of the headmen, Chief Ufwenuka representative Kizito Hamuchenkwa said that the traditional leadership in Ufwenuka is not ready to give Monze Central Member of Parliament Jack Mwimbu another chance, as he has failed the chiefdom in terms of development.

‎Speaking during the celebration of delimitated Constituencies, the traditional leader said the people of Monze have given Jack Mwimbu a chance to rule for 25 years, and this time they want to try someone else whom they feel will deliver on the community’s expectations.

‎He said all his donations of cement and second-hand clothes by Jack Mwimbu would have been done in his 25 years, not this time when he saw that elections are near.

‎And Chiiya Biggie, the Vice Chairperson of Mobilization under UPND in Monze District, has challenged Jack Mwimbu to pave the way for new people to transform Monze District better.

‎He said Jack Mwimbu has failed to bring tangible development  in Monze Central constituency despite holding a ministrial postion.

‎Mr. Chiiya said Mwimbu has even failed to work on the Mulonga wangoma bridge that connects the people of St. Mary’s area, where he comes from, to Monze Town, apart from giving empty hope to the people of St. Mary’s area.

‎Meanwhile, Monze Central Member of Parliament Jack Mwimbu has maintained his position of standing for his sixth term to clock 30 years as a member of parliament for Monze.

‎He said much development has been achieved under his leadership through the utilization of the Constituency Development Fund.

‎Jack Mwimbu became the Member of Parliament (MP) for Monze Central in 2001. He has held the seat for the United Party for National Development (UPND) continuously since that time, winning subsequent elections in 2006, 2011, 2016, and 2021. As of 2026, he is considered one of Zambia’s longest-serving MPs.
