ccan security forces threw stones at Moroccans trying to return from Ceuta, in what looked like a deliberate attempt to block them from coming back.
The message is clear. Go to Ceuta. Occupy it. And do not come back.
Tens of thousands crossed into the Spanish enclave after Moroccan border guards suddenly stepped aside and let them through. Moroccan police were reportedly shouting, Go, go, go. Run now, run into Spain.
At least 57 people died trying to cross. Many drowned. Others were crushed. It was chaos. And Morocco allowed it.
Now the same people trying to return are being blocked. Stones thrown. Vehicles burned. Dozens arrested.
This is not about migration. This is about politics.
Spain angered Israel by criticising the genocide in Gaza and refusing to let US planes use Spanish bases for strikes on Iran. Morocco is Israel’s main ally in the region. Analysts say this crisis was orchestrated to punish Spain.
Morocco has used this tactic before. In 2021, it let 10,000 migrants flood Ceuta to pressure Spain. Now it is doing it again with 50,000 people.
The Moroccan government has placed Israel’s interests over the will of its own citizens. It used its people as cannon fodder to serve a foreign agenda. And then it attacked them when they tried to come home.
The people are pawns. The monarchy is serving its masters. And the citizens are paying the price.
