MSONI APPEALS TO HICHILEMA TO RELEASE DETAINED OPPOSITION LEADERS
All Peoples Congress (APC) President Nasson Msoni has appealed to President Hakainde Hichilema to consider releasing opposition leaders and other political figures currently detained following the 2026 General Elections.
Mr Msoni reminded President Hichilema of the period when he was detained at Mukobeko Correctional Facility, saying only a few people spoke publicly in his defence.
He said he was among those who defended Mr Hichilema at the time by taking his case to the international arena, criticising the government and appealing to the then President for his release.
Mr Msoni said he was particularly concerned by the suffering of Mr Hichilema’s family during his detention, recalling how the First Lady had to visit him at the maximum-security facility to provide food and support.
He said he had hoped such experiences would never be repeated against political leaders in Zambia.
Mr Msoni further recalled that following his release, President Hichilema personally called him to thank him for speaking out and taking risks on his behalf.
He has now appealed to the President to extend the same consideration to two opposition figures and others who remain in detention.

This man is an idiot. And a fool.
The treason allegations are not against HH.
They are against the people of Zambia.
Who put HH in that office.
The court process must be allowed to play out. Too many lies, to much sh!t has been passed around. The guardians of the nation must be allowed to give their side of the story. I am so sick of the victim narrative being driven. The simple facts are that if you bear arms against a democratically elected government, that government has every faken right to defend itself. No one is entitled to commit treason. NO ONE.
