MUNDUBILE CHALLENGES HH TO RELEASE NATIONWIDE MINERAL SURVEY REPORT

NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile has challenged President Hakainde Hichilema to immediately make public the country’s nationwide geological survey report, saying Zambians have a right to know the mineral wealth beneath their land.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Mufumbwe District today, Hon. Mundubile said the survey was conducted using taxpayers’ money and should not be treated as a secret document reserved for a privileged few.
He argued that every province and district deserves equal access to information about the country’s mineral resources, saying such transparency would unlock investment opportunities, promote local entrepreneurship and accelerate community development.
“The people of North-Western Province deserve to know what mineral resources exist in their communities. The people of Southern Province deserve to know. The people of Central, Northern, Muchinga, Eastern, Western, Luapula, Copperbelt and Lusaka provinces deserve the same opportunity,” Hon. Mundubile said.
He added that traditional leaders also have a legitimate interest in understanding the natural resources within their chiefdoms so they can participate meaningfully in driving development for their communities.
Hon. Mundubile maintained that because public funds financed the nationwide geological survey, the report belongs to the Zambian people and should be made publicly available.
He challenged President Hichilema to release the report so that residents of Chongwe, Kabompo, Manyinga, Zambezi, Chavuma and every other district can understand the mineral potential of their areas and make informed investment decisions.
Hon. Mundubile said transparency in the mining sector would strengthen investor confidence, create opportunities for local businesses and ensure communities derive greater benefits from Zambia’s abundant natural resources.
“Our natural resources belong to all Zambians. Information about those resources should also be available to all Zambians,” he said.
He said openness and accountability in the management of Zambia’s mineral resources are essential for inclusive national development and should be the standard upheld by every government.

So Mr. Mundubile, you want the whole world to know what mineral resources we have and their location? You think this report will be accessed exclusively by Zambians and they will keep that information to themselves?
This information has to be carefully controlled. It borders on national security. Imagine if the report said there are high grade emeralds at Kapiri hills and it was released to the public. The whole Copperbelt and Lusaka would descend on Kapiri, including foreign criminals. This is what happened in Northwestern province and the gold rush. Eventually the army had to be called in to restore order. But of course this means nothing to Mr. Mundubile.
The more Mr. Mundubile talks, the more I realise he is a serious danger to our country.
The geological mapping is still going on. Some information is of course available and the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development is the custodian. It’s available I suppose on payment of an appropriate fee as is the case at the Companies Registtry. Mundubile of course knows that but he’s just playing gutter politics to please his mob.
Divisive politics….when you have nothing to offer. Prying on the ignorant and illerate. This man has no soul….and says he wants to lead and serve Zambians?
