MUNDUBILE DEMOTED FROM NRPUP, HE MIGHT CLEAR HIMSELF FIRST SAYS PARTY.

The National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Progress (NRPUP) has with immediate effect demoted Brian Mundubile from the party, throwing a dramatic new twist into the political storm surrounding the former presidential candidate.

Party President Ezra Tembo says the issues surrounding Mr. Mundubile, including allegations that he was found with a militia group, do not represent the position of the party.

He says Mr. Mundubile was contracted to run under the NRPUP banner, but he is not the President of the party

Mr. Tembo says NRPUP will not allow itself to be dented by individuals pursuing selfish motives at the expense of the party’s principles, suggesting that the party is prepared to draw a hard line between itself and actions attributed to individual members.

And as the controversy surrounding Mr. Mundubile continues to unfold, Mr. Ezra Tembo has accepted the election results announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), congratulating President Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party for National Development (UPND) on their victory.

NRPUP President Ezra Tembo told journalists at a media briefing that the party had decided to accept the outcome and focus on the responsibilities that come with its emergence as a major opposition force in the country.

He said the performance of the party, including winning more than 60 parliamentary seats, was a major achievement that had given NRPUP a strong presence in the country’s political landscape.

Tembo said the results had demonstrated that Zambians had entrusted the party with an important role in Parliament and that the leadership would not take that responsibility lightly.

He congratulated the more than 60 NRPUP Members of Parliament and councillors elected across the country, urging them to remain focused on the interests of the people who had voted for them.

According to Tembo, the party’s immediate focus would be to ensure that Zambia moves beyond the election period and returns its attention to economic and social development.

He called on Zambians to give President Hichilema and the UPND room to govern, saying the country needed stability and cooperation if it was to address the challenges facing citizens.

  1. The drama continues to unfold. Under the circumstances this party president has a duty to protect the image of the political party and the gains obtained with these just ended elections.

Bane, this is a complete change of narratives. Seems you guys found with cases are on your own. You need to explain what you were doing when caught and not pull the whole political party you stood on with you.

    Drama is escalating.
