MUNDUBILE LOVES CIVIL SERVANTS BUT HIS STATEMENT WAS TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT – LUNGU

Opposition Tonse Pamodzi Alliance Presidential Campaign Deputy Coordinator for Lusaka, Muhabi Lungu, says remarks by the alliance’s presidential candidate Brian Mundubile regarding civil servants have been taken out of context.

Mr. Lungu said Mr. Mundubile’s statement was not aimed at threatening civil servants but rather emphasised that public officers should not engage in active partisan politics while serving the government of the day.

He said civil servants are expected to work professionally with any government in power and remain politically neutral in the execution of their duties.

Speaking when he featured on Christian Voice’ Chatback program in Lusaka today, Mr. Lungu accused some critics of twisting Mr. Mundubile’s remarks by suggesting that his team will fix all civil servants that will support the UPND in the elections.

“This is propaganda, as some of the statements being made are taken out of context often,” said Mr. Lungu.

He urged stakeholders to consider statements in their proper context and avoid extracting words from speeches to create a different meaning from what was intended.

Mr. Lungu also challenged the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) to focus on explaining its campaign promises rather than responding to positions taken by the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance on its campaign trail.
