Mundubile spends third day at Mukobeko over treason charge, while Hichilema takes second term of office
TODAY marks the third day that National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) presidential candidate Brian Mundubile has spent at Mukobeko Maximum Correctional Facility in Kabwe.
Mundubile and his running mate, Makebi Zulu, were formally charged last week with one count of treason, an allegation the State will be required to prove in court.
The duo, alongside 16 other accused persons, were transferred to Mukobeko after being charged with treason under Section 43 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Treason is a serious offence that carries a sentence of life imprisonment upon conviction.
The accused persons have not yet appeared before court, where the State will be required to present evidence in support of the allegations against them.
While the duo spend their third day at Mukobeko Maximum Correctional Facility, Hakainde Hichilema has today been sworn in as President of Zambia following August 13 polls that saw the Electoral Commission of Zambia declare him winner of the general election.

No wonder they were tripping over one another wanting to be the leader of the alliance. They all believed that their plan B was going to work. They didn’t even care the about filling in 76 other constituencies. Their plan was not about winning the election, but funning trouble, chaos and ending up taking power by any means but unconstitutional.
