*MUNDUBILE UNVEILS HISTORIC ‘CHITAMBO DECLARATION,’ VOWS TO RESTORE ZAMBIA’S CHRISTIAN VALUES*
Chitambo District– National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) Presidential Candidate Brian Mundubile has unveiled the “Chitambo Declaration,” a bold national covenant reaffirming Zambia’s identity as a Christian Nation and calling for moral, spiritual and ethical renewal anchored on justice, integrity and servant leadership.
Speaking in Chitambo District, the historic place where renowned missionary Dr. David Livingstone spent his final moments and offered his last prayer, Hon. Mundubile described the declaration as a call for Zambia to return to the values that have long defined the nation’s Christian heritage.
“Chitambo is not merely a historical landmark but sacred ground. It is here that Livingstone prayed that God would raise a mighty Christian nation that would become ‘a light, ILAMPI, to Africa’ and spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth,” he said.
Hon. Mundubile said the declaration seeks to revive that vision by reaffirming Zambia’s constitutional status as a Christian Nation while fully respecting the freedom of every citizen to worship according to the dictates of their conscience.
The NRPUP leader pledged that, under his leadership, Zambia would be guided by the Christian principles of love, justice, righteousness, integrity, humility, compassion, peace and service to humanity
He declared that the country must reject corruption, tribalism, violence, hatred, injustice and the abuse of public office, adding that genuine Christian leadership is founded on honesty, accountability and selfless service.
Hon. Mundubile committed to building strong families and institutions founded on moral character, protecting human dignity, promoting responsible citizenship and ensuring greater care for vulnerable members of society.
The declaration also places strong emphasis on empowering young people. Hon. Mundubile pledged to nurture a generation grounded in faith, patriotism, innovation, excellence and national service.
He said Zambia must once again become “a beacon of peace, reconciliation and hope on the African continent” by promoting dialogue, justice and unity among nations.
The NRPUP presidential candidate further pledged continued support for churches and faith-based organisations in advancing education, healthcare, poverty reduction and community development, describing the Church as “an indispensable partner in national transformation.”
Calling upon God to guide the country’s leaders and institutions, Hon. Mundubile urged Zambians to unite behind a shared vision of national renewal.
Standing on the same soil where Livingstone’s earthly journey ended, he said the missionary’s prayer “continues to inspire generations and should challenge every Zambian to pursue a nation that reflects the light of Jesus Christ through justice, compassion, unity and faithful service.”
Quoting Psalm 33:12, Hon. Mundubile concluded: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”
He ended with a proclamation: “May this nation rise in righteousness. May this nation prosper in peace. May this nation become a blessing to Africa and to the world.”
The Chitambo Declaration now stands as one of the defining policy and moral statements of Hon. Mundubile’s presidential campaign, positioning the NRPUP leader as a candidate seeking not only political change but what he describes as a national spiritual rebirth rooted in Christian values.

Talk is cheap. Which christian values that keep the body frozen for years simply because they cant forgive? Is it a mockery?
On one side you claim to restore and re affirm, on the other you can’t forgive!
It is called manipulation and God sees it for what it is. Repent first and follow Christ’s example. It is not everyone who says father wo will enter the kingdom of heaven.
One one side you say you want to unite the country, on the other, you shut them out!
Joseph Mwansa, I appreciate your observations. I only disagree with the claim of a lack of forgiveness; forgive who? For what? This is similar to those who assert that ECL lacked forgiveness: a thief and criminal forgiving who? Please don’t empower these criminals. It is criminals who need forgiveness, not the other way around.
Zambians do not eat values.
Christianity is not a national religion.
It is hypocrisy for Mr. Mundubile to talk about restoring christian values. Since when did we have these christian values? During the PF rule of which he was a prominent part of, we witnessed some of the most base human behaviour. Unbriddled corruption (uubomba mwibala alya mwibala), violence (the killing of Grazar Matapa, Nsama Nsama, Chibulo, young Mugala, Joseph Banda, Kaunda, Vesper), vulgar language, extreme intolerance (wearing any red garment was inviting a beating from PF thugs).
It is folly to use the name of God to advance your political ends in defiance of the third commandment, Mr. Mundubile (Exodus 20:7, “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name”. You are a politician and there is no way you can “restore” christian values. That is the role of the church, which has failed miserably in this respect. Declaration of Zambia as a christian nation or the Day of prayer, fasting, reconcilliation, et al doesnot make Zambia a christian nation. The bible says “by their fruit you will recognise them” (Math. 7:16). The rot in our society defines who we are.
Isiah 29:13 says, “These people come near to me with their mouth and honour me with their lips but their hearts are far from me”. That is our situation.
Don’t bring judgement upon yourself by trifling with the name of God, Mr. Mundubile. A covenant with God is not something to be taken lightly. We take a lot of pride in the label of “christian nation” just like the Jews took pride in being Abraham’s children. In the process, we mock God. It is like shaking our collective fist in God’s face.
The declaration of Zambia as a “christian nation” cheapened christianity and has reduced it to a political slogan. But God will judge those who misuse His name.
