Muombe Sugilite Loot in Luapula Province is a test for the UPND’s Govt’s commitment towards the fight against corruption and theft

The Muombe Sugilite Loot in Luapula Province is a test for the UPND’s New Dawn Government’s commitment towards the fight against corruption and theft!

While we are busy calling on the Ministry of Mines to address illegal mining in Luapula Province which has resulted to unbearable economic, environmental and social challenges, some UPND officials in collaboration with the police were busy pulling a Jesse James loot which ended with 4 police officers being arrested in Central Province

What a shame! The clique of thieves are busy stealing the provinces wealth while vulnerable people face death each day travelling on the Luapula roads which are in a deplorable state.

Luapula has abundant wealth which can be used to develop the province if it is well managed.

Unfortunately our calls and crys to end illegal mining has been falling on death ears and now it is evident that the silence has been due to the involvement of people who we have entrusted with leadership positions being involved in the loot.

We won’t be silent when robbers steal our wealth!

Not long ago the Minister of Mines Honourable Kabuswe told the nation the his Ministry has a spine, well we expect the Ministry to show its spine now by addressing these illegalities we are faced with in Luapula Province.

Should the Ministry decide to act spineless on this theft, we shall be left with no other option but to think the robbers had the blessings of the Ministry.

Children are dying in mine accidents, they are getting injured, dropping out of school while adult women and men are being exploited for cheap labor, working as modern day slaves for looters

The trucks that have been ferrying people from Senama to go and do cheap labor for Mines have been carrying people from just near the police post, we wondered why the police did not intervene…the answer is clear now! They are interested parties

His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema, the poverty levels in Luapula Province are high yet the province has the most abundant natural resources needed to develop the province.

We witnessed mismanagement of resources such as Mukula and for years we have watched helplessly tons and tons of Manganese leaving the province without any tangible revenue being recorded for the province. When the New Dawn Government assured the Nation on their commitment to fighting corruption, it gave us high hopes that the province will now develop, but to have Government and Party officials getting involved in robbing the province of its wealth has left us all in shock.

Our humble appeal is the Government quickly intervenes by investigating the whole cartel and bringing the culprits to book.
