MWALITETA IS AMONG THOSE WHO THREATENED  OUR MANDEVU CANDIDATE TO WITHDRAW – MUHABI HAS REVEALED

The opposition Tonse/Pamodzi Alliance Secretary General Muhabi Lungu has revealed that the withdrawal of his Mandevu candidate from the Parliamentary by election Daniel Chisenga was partly necessitated by the alleged threats Mr. Chisenga received from one of the senior leaders in the UPND by the name of Mwaliteta.

Speaking during a media briefing on Friday morning, Mr. Lungu stated that he was informed by the candidate himself that a Mr. MWALITETA phoned him and subsequently threatened, informing him that if he doesn’t withdraw from the race in the few remaining last days he would be arrested on the voting day and be slapped with some non billable offenses.

Mr. Lungu disclosed that the alleged threats did not only target the Candidate himself but also his family saying that his family too would not have it easy when Daniel Chisenga is sent to prison.

Lungu added that the candidate even requested to relocate to Mr. Lungu’s place temporarily as a result of fearing for his life.

Meanwhile during the same event the Tonse SG decided to play an audio recording of a conversation he had with the candidate confirming the alleged threats he has been receiving from his opponents before arriving at the point of withdrawing.

The alliance therefore, called on the electoral commission of Zambia -ECZ to halt the Mandevu by election in order to level the political environment for all.

” In addition to our demand to the Commission we shall be engaging the Inspector General of Police in order to complain about the conduct of his Men and Women in uniform” Said Muhabi.

  1. Is there proof of these threats? Threatening violence is an arrestable offence. Did anyone of the “victims” open a docket at any police station?
Or this is just nkani ya mukachasu ?
If you have evidence go straight to police. Why even bother to come on social media? If the narrative is true and there is evidence, the police will issue a statement.

  2. At law, what Muhabi Lungu is alleging is called “hearsay” and is inadmissible as evidence. Let the person who withdrew say it himself and/or go to the police if there is commission of an offence. These Tonse Alliance people are not even a legal entity but making noise for political relevance. Who is Muhabi Lungu? Acting this?!

  3. Is Mwaliteta a lion to scare three people to withdraw at once? What kind of threat was that one? We need to learn more about it, it can be very useful in other future by elections.
