MWENYA MUSENGE ACCUSES PRESIDENT HICHILEMA OF MISLEADING VOTERS THROUGH CAMPAIGN MESSAGES

Former Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge has accused President Hakainde Hichilema of misleading voters through his campaign messages ahead of the August 13 general election.
Mr. Musenge who is also Advocates for Democracy and Prosperity President says the President’s recent remarks on constituency delimitation in Chilubi are among statements that risk creating false impressions among the electorate.
Last week, while addressing residents of Chilubi in Northern Province, President Hichilema said the district had not been granted an additional constituency because the former area Member of Parliament Mulenga Fube, allegedly said Chilubi did not need another constituency.
But Mr Musenge argues that the delimitation process is not determined by individual Members of Parliament and maintains that suggesting otherwise misrepresents how constituencies are created.
Mr. Musenge has also questioned recent announcements on planned government recruitment, particularly in the health sector, saying the timelines being communicated do not align with established public service recruitment procedures.
He says the President should draw lessons from the 2021 election campaign, contending that promises to reduce the prices of mealie meal, fuel and fertilizer have not been fulfilled, noting that repeating similar campaign commitments without addressing previous pledges risks eroding public confidence.
