MY WIFE STARTED SLEEPING WITH MY PROSECUTORS WHEN I WAS IN TROUBLE, SAYS MUCHEMWA.

Former Intercity Commander during the Patriotic Front (PF) regime, Francis Muchemwa, popularly known as Commander 2, has emotionally recounted how he believes his wife betrayed him at the time he was facing prosecution, claiming she became romantically involved with people he considers his persecutors.

Mr Muchemwa says he was left a broken man after discovering that the woman who had enjoyed the privileges and glory of his former life was involved with people he believes were working against him during his legal troubles.

In a deeply emotional reflection on his life after prison, Mr Muchemwa has opened up about the pain of betrayal, the loss of his property, the friends who abandoned him and the few individuals who stood by him when he had almost nothing left.

He says his imprisonment marked one of the darkest periods of his life, but he believes it was not the end of his story, but rather the beginning of a new chapter.

According to Mr Muchemwa, returning to society after prison was particularly painful because he had lost almost everything, including his property, emotional stability and the comfort of having a home for his children.

However, he says that just when he thought his world had completely fallen apart, God brought a clean woman in his life by the name of Hope Banda.

He describes Ms Banda as a woman who chose to stand with him when he had very little to offer, revealing that she even left her well-paying job to support him through his difficult circumstances.

Mr Muchemwa says her decision to remain by his side helped him regain his confidence, strengthen his faith and rediscover the courage to rebuild his life.

He believes her sacrifice taught him that material possessions mean very little compared to genuine love, loyalty and companionship, particularly during life’s most difficult moments.

He also expressed disappointment with some people he once considered close friends, saying those who proudly called him Commander were nowhere to be seen when he needed them most.

He claims some people he had regarded as his best friends even mocked him during his difficult period, seemingly forgetting the role he had played in their lives.

Despite the disappointment, Mr Muchemwa says he remains grateful to those who never abandoned him.

He specifically recognised Phil, his sister Gertrude, younger brother Mwila, his daughters Tayana and Nisha, and his boys Manish and Craig.

He also thanked his family members, fellow politicians, his now bapongoshi, sister-in-law Faith, Suzen, Mwansa, Mary, Thandi and many others who supported him in different ways.

He says some people travelled long distances to visit him, while others offered whatever little they could afford, adding that he values every act of kindness regardless of its material worth.

Mr Muchemwa says he remains deeply grateful to everyone who stood with him when life became unbearable.

Although he acknowledges that his struggles are not completely over, he remains determined to rebuild his life, insisting that difficult circumstances should never make anyone surrender their dreams.

Encouraging those going through difficult moments, he says life comes in different phases, and nobody should allow temporary challenges to destroy their hope.

In his closing message, Commander 2 said:

“I just wanted to encourage someone never to give up or lose heart. Life belongs to God, and our destiny too. Love me or hate me, God has the final say.”

For a man who says he lost his property, endured imprisonment, experienced betrayal and watched people he once trusted walk away, his message is that life does not end when everything falls apart.

Sometimes, the people you expect to stand with you are the first to leave, while those you least expect become the reason you find the strength to rise again.

For Commander 2, the battle is not over. He is choosing to fight on.
