NALUMANGO SAYS VOTERS SHOULD NOT USE UPND’S MISTAKES WHEN VOTING
Vice President W.K. Mutale Nalumango has urged Zambians not to judge the governing UPND solely on its shortcomings, saying any mistakes made during the party’s five years in office should not determine the outcome of the August general elections.
Speaking in an interview with Phoenix News, Mrs. Nalumango said the ruling party remains confident of victory and is prepared to accept the verdict of the electorate, expressing belief that Zambians will make what she described as the right decision at the ballot box.
She said the UPND has made significant progress since assuming office, citing its development agenda as a key reason why voters should renew the party’s mandate. She warned that electing a different government could have adverse consequences for the country’s future
The Vice President acknowledged that the high cost of living remains a major concern but assured citizens that addressing the challenge will be among the government’s top priorities should the UPND secure another term in office
Mrs. Nalumango also pointed to the ability of opposition leaders, including Brian Mundubile and his running mate Makebi Zulu, to freely hold campaign rallies as evidence of the political freedoms enjoyed under the current administration.
She further challenged opposition leaders to acknowledge what she described as the government’s achievements, including the introduction of free education, increased recruitment of civil servants, and stable inflation, saying these developments should form part of voters’ assessment ahead of the elections.
